The "Pictures" link from my home page (or the Navigation choices on the picture pages) will take you to a navigation page which is a site map for all pictures pages. It's pretty big, but all text, so you don't have to wait forever for it to load. It is a set of lists, each list indented, with the highest-level entries (Belize, Guatemala, Honduras, Scuba) on the left and increasing levels of detail (districts, sites, plazas, etc) as you move to the right. I use it to scroll up and down to look for a particular page. I hope it is reasonably self-explanatory. You can get back to it from any picture page, or follow parent, sibling, child, or Next Page links to look around. All references include the name for the page and a short description.
Each page starts with its name and a short description. These will get better as I continue to work on the site, but generally they tell you what the page contains, with maybe a comment or two.
Following the heading, and re-appearing often on the page, is a small tool
bar – the navigation bar - which looks like this

· Send email through your registered email agent, if you have one. The subject will include the name of the page you are on and the To: address is a mailbox I’ve set up to receive queries and comments about the pages. This link works on this page, too.
· Go back to my home page. This link works on this page, too.
· Go to the (text) navigation page. Do this to change cities or locate a page from the pictures site-map.
· When I add it, you'll be able to Go to the (map) navigation page. This isn’t in place yet. It will be the first map, where you can click your way down to wherever you want to go.
· Go one level up, to the site page if you’re in a plaza, or to the district if you are in a city – that sort of thing.
· When I add it, you'll be able to Go to the map version of this page. This isn’t in place yet. It will be the same as this one with respect to pictures, but it has the previous and current maps on it instead of all the text you see on the text pages.
· Go to the navigation part of the page, from which you can go up to a parent page, sideways to an sibling page, and down to any child page. See the next paragraph.
· Go to the top of the pictures
· Go to the bottom of the pictures, where you can take the “Next Page in Sequence” link.
· Do a Google search for more information. The search uses the names of this page and all higher ones. So if you are looking at Group H (in Tikal), the search will specify Guatemala/tikal/Group H. As always, you can change the query if you want more or less than what the automated search gives you. Use the browser's "Back" button to return, or you may very well see the page you came from in the search results.
· Come here, just in case you forget anything.
Every picture page has navigation links at the top, which allow you to jump
to the parent page (one level up on the site map), any of the siblings (all
those at the same level as the one your on), on to any of the children. For the large sites (
Next come all the pictures.
· Generally the images are just labeled with their names, but I mean to replace these with short titles when I get a chance. If a picture has a title, you can get the image name by just leaving the cursor on the image for a moment.
· Some images have a colored frame around them. These have full-page images attached to them. If you click them a large image will appear without a supporting page. You have to use the browser’s “Back” button to return to where you were.
· Panoramas are given as smaller images on the regular pages. You may have to scroll your page to the right to see all the images if there are more than four in the panorama. If you click any of them you will get a new page of standard-sized images with the usual navigation available. You can use the browser’s “Back” to return to the picture page. The Navigation bar “Parent” will bring you back to the top of the picture page.
· A few images (usually set of three) are presented as smaller images. They have a standard size picture behind them, the same way the full-page pictures do.
· There may be additional lines of text inserted between rows of pictures. I use this to collect and identify picture of the same area, structure, or whatever.
· There are a fair number of stereo pairs, two images of the same subject taken inches apart. Properly viewed these can provide a stereoscopic view of the object. I haven’t compensated such pairs to match color properties, errors in rotation or position as yet.
If you simply want to browse through the images of a city, you can jump to the city from the Navigation page, and then browse down each page and take the “Next Page” link to go through everything. The “Next Page” links do carry on to the next city, site or whatever. You can view the whole website by clicking that link.

If you see anything where you need a larger image, please eMail me about that too. I have a high-resolution negative/slide scanner and I can provide high-resolution scans for people who may need the 9+ Megapixel version of something. Please mention the picture ID. This is a Tertius service, but it will be accessible through this path. I haven't decided cost or delivery mechanism. Should ever there be enough interest, I'll hook up a shopping basket for this, instead of eMail requests.
When I can, I will label the individual pictures, continue to cull duplicates and generally clean things up. More pictures will be added whenever I can back to that part of the world. As it is browse around and email me any comments.
All the pictures were taken by me or my party on the various trips. The image ids identify the camera (which is usually the photographer as well) and the trip. The Trip ids are the second letter in the image id: a=1998, b=2001, c=2002, d=2004, e=2005, f=2006, g=2008.

I have tried to find a balance in the image size – there are so many images on some pages that download time is an issue, but pictures that are too small to see are useless. In addition to having what I hope are big-enough images, the more important pictures can be enlarged to full-screen by clicking them. These are the ones with colored frames around them. Since I am simply using your web browser to call up the larger image, you have to use the browser’s “Back” function to proceed after viewing one of these.

05/23/05 - I have added a “Next Page in Sequence” link to the bottom of each picture page. If you simply want to browse through the images of a city, you can jump to the city from the Navigation page, and then browse down each page and take the “Next Page” link to go through everything. The “Next Page” links do carry on to the next city, site or whatever. You can view the whole website by clicking that link.
01/23/03 - I am working on adding map-based navigation. Instead of the text at the top of the pages, there will be a pair of maps with the sites, cities, or other locations marked so you can just click and go. I believe that adding the maps alone will be a help for the understanding of the sites, but I need to locate adequate maps for everywhere, and get permission to use them. Unfortunately, the amount of work involved with locating every shot and direction has kept me from getting this done as yet. You will see links set up on the navigation bar (“Map Nav”, “Map page”), and I hope to have the web pages to back them up soon.
